.
My most recent BATTLE OF THE BANDS installment took place HERE, and it was felly ugly-uh! The Stray Cats with their "whiskey on the rocks" took on Jerry Lee Lewis and his "sherry wine" and beat him like a dead dog horse!
.
As I mentioned to Sixgun McItchyfinger in the comment section:
.
Honestly, I thought Jerry's
"G-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-owl"
was going to be good enough to score five votes all by itself!
.
However, Sixy and I were the only listeners who voted for Jerry Lee Lewis. (The odds of that happening were nearly the same as humanity evolving from pond scum over six million years!)
.
FINAL TALLY:
Stray Cats = 8 votes
Jerry Lee Lewis = 2 votes
.
BLOWOUT CITY!
.
.
So, 'Rock This Town' by The Stray Cats will advance to the post-season playoff round of BOTB's BOTB. My sincere gratitude to everyone who took the time to visit my blog and submit a vote. I plan to return here on June 1st with a new and raucously rockin' Battle Of The Booze contest. I hopes to see ya then!

A very decisive outcome! Thanks for sharing the results, my friend. Try to stay out of the trouble now, you here! ;)
ReplyDeleteCAThy! It's That YOU!
DeleteStay out of trouble?!
That doesn't sound like a whole lotta fun. Where's the adventure in that?

Whoa! You and I were the ONLY two to choose Lewis? I'm grabbing my Holy Bible and heading to the bunker right now!
ReplyDeleteBut really, Stray Cats voters: you should listen again, because with enough listening you will learn to appreciate what you missed the first time! You will hear the widely-known very delicate nuances of Jerry Lee.

DeleteIn your wildest dreams, could you have ever conceived of the idea that someday you and I would vote alike, and opposite of everyone else?!?! It's really kind of unbelievable. Have we stumbled into some sort of crazy alternate reality?
And you're right about hearing the J.L.L. song more than once. I think the first time I heard it back-to-back with 'Rock This Town', I was planning to vote for The Stray Cats. But after 2 or 3 times, I realized that I liked 'Spo-Dee-O-Dee' better. It may be something that needs to grow on a listener.
1. Tom Petty
2. Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66
3. The 'Who's Next' album
4. Louis Prima & Keely Smith
5. Joe Morello (best drummer ever)
6. Johnny Cash & U2 were highly overrated songwriters / musicians.
7. The Dip
8. Rare Earth
9. The Babys
10. Loggins & Messina
11. 'Drinking Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee' by Jerry Lee Lewis (over 'Rock This Town')

The outcome was as it should be. Me voting for Jerry Lee Lewis is about as likely as me marrying my 13 year old cousin.

DeleteSixgun McItchyfinger wrote this about the Jerry Lee Lewis song:
>>... "you should listen again, because with enough listening you will learn to appreciate what you missed the first time!"
In my opinion, that opinion is correct.

Sorry I missed the battle! I was off doing home maintenance and yard stuff... Anyway, my vote would have only increased your blowout tally. I will be joining you for BOTB again on June 1. Thanks for checking out my Cobalt Blue photo essay. ☺
ReplyDeleteNo worries, my Friend! Sometimes "life happens". I'm just pleased to know that you're doing OK.
DeleteI look forward to hearing what you've got planned for us on June 1st. The match-up I have in mind for my own Battle is a serious rocker, and I've been pondering how YOU might vote in it:
"Will she go for the loud, hard-rockin' electric guitar, or the heavier Blues sound with the saxophone?"
Time will tell.

I have a feeling that might be a tough choice, since I love both! ☺
DeleteI FULLY understand that, because even I am not yet totally sure how I will vote. I really dig *BOTH* of these songs, and the videos for them are simply perfect. (If you like motorcycles at all, you're going to be in Bluesy Rock 'N' Roll heaven!)
